Terms of use

1. General provisions

This document sets out the terms of use for compareza.co.za (the "Site"). By starting to use the Site, you fully and unconditionally accept these terms.

If you do not agree with any part of these terms, please stop using the Site.

2. What the Site is and is not

The Site is an independent information service that brings together publicly available data on financial products from South African banks and microfinance institutions (loans, deposits, cards, instalment plans, vehicle finance, home loans and others) and lets you compare them.

The Site is NOT:

• a bank, microfinance institution or other credit provider;
• a financial, investment or tax advisor;
• a party that lends money or takes deposits — these functions are performed only by appropriately licensed banks and MFIs.

Recommendations from the AI advisor (/advisor), among other things, are for information purposes only and do not constitute personal financial or investment advice. The final decision is yours alone; consult an independent professional if needed.

3. Accuracy of data

The Site regularly updates data from banks' official websites and the South African Reserve Bank; the date of the last update is shown on every page. Even so, a bank may change its terms at any time, and the data on the Site may differ from the current terms on the bank's own website. Always verify the final terms on the bank's official website or at a branch — the Site cannot guarantee complete and instant accuracy of its information.

4. Limitation of liability

• The Site has no influence over, and is not responsible for, a bank's decisions to grant or decline a loan or to change deposit terms;
• The Site is not responsible for the content, operation or terms of a bank's or other organisation's website that you reach via the "Apply" button — that organisation's own terms and privacy policy apply there;
• The Site is not liable for any direct or indirect losses arising from financial decisions made on the basis of information on the Site;
• The Site does not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free operation — temporary outages may occur due to technical work, changes on banks' websites, or other causes.

5. User obligations

By using the Site, you agree to:

• use the Site only for lawful purposes and only if you are 18 or older;
• not take any action that interferes with the Site's operation (automated scraping, excessive load, attempts at unauthorised access);
• not copy or republish the Site's content (text, design, database structure) for commercial purposes without the rights holder's written consent;
• send only genuine, lawful requests to the AI advisor — misuse of the service or sending harmful content is prohibited.

6. Intellectual property

The Site's design, text, code and database structure are protected by copyright. Information about bank products comes from the official sources of the relevant banks and MFIs and belongs to them.

7. Advertising and affiliate links

The Site carries contextual advertising in accordance with applicable South African advertising legislation. Some links on the Site are affiliate (CPA) links: when a product is applied for through such a link, the Site may earn a commission from the bank or a partner network. This does not affect the order or terms of products in a comparison — ranking is based solely on the product's actual parameters (rate, amount, term, popularity marker).

8. Personal data

The collection and processing of personal data is described separately in the Privacy Policy, which forms an integral part of these terms.

9. Changes to these terms

The Site reserves the right to amend these terms unilaterally. Changes take effect once the date at the top of the page is updated. Continuing to use the Site after changes means you accept the new terms.

10. Governing law

These terms are drawn up and interpreted in accordance with the laws of South Africa. Any disputes will be resolved through negotiation, and failing agreement, in accordance with the procedure set out in applicable South African law.
